I have various types of client, all of whom require me to work in different ways to support them. This is the first in a series of case studies which will give you an insight into what working with a Virtual Assistant is all about…
One of my previous clients was a successful and driven CEO of an International Company with offices in the UK, USA, Honk Kong and Australia.
We found each other through LinkedIn and we had an initial consultation in London face to face. We agreed to have a quick trial for two weeks to see how we would work together.
The tasks I completed were varied from diary management, event and travel bookings to preparing and summarising board reports, presentations and even helping with the recruitment of staff. I was also able to assist at the companies London events, which was not virtual but thoroughly enjoyable. VA’s don’t always have to stay virtual.
I really liked the variation in the work and as I enjoy working under pressure, the tight timescales suited me. We had regular catch ups over Skype and reviewed workload initially weekly and once we got used to each other this moved to monthly.
We had a great working relationship for over 20 months, and towards the end I even assisted with the CEO’s retirement plan. We have remained in touch and I still help with travel and event bookings; he knows I can get it done in half the time than he could.
Feedback I have received from this client:
“Jane just knows what I need before I know what it is, I would ask if something could be done and it always already was…. It was great to know all the things I had to juggle were supported by the best VA I have worked with. Jane is really reliable but also challenged me to be a better leader by reminding me to do some of the little things staff find important. I still call on Jane with my family when we need things organised as I know Jane will get it done right and on time.”
(The client wishes to remain anonymous due to new projects in the pipeline; seems some retirements are shorter than others!)
