Some clients need a VA to complete various bits of research. Personally, I don’t believe you can learn researching unless you have a passion for it – luckily, I have been obsessed with detail and research since school; I even completed a Masters in Historical Research. My advice: be detailed, be rigorous and challenge EVERYTHING.
Some of the types of work I have completed over the last 12 months include:
- Travel Research – Finding great deals on travel options, hotels and restaurants for corporate events, family holidays or even the odd honeymoon!
- Venue Research – Finding the right venue for corporate parties, conferences, workshops or private dinners is important and each client has a particular taste that they like. It is important to know your client and deliver on their high expectations.
- Intellectual Property Investigations – Working for law firms, I research trade mark history, use and the extent of this across Europe. These jobs are challenging but always interesting.
- Candidate and Actor Background Checks – Finding the right candidates for senior roles is important and completing thorough checks is vital for clients.
- Article and Blog Research – I complete research tasks for various clients for podcasts, articles and books in a range of fields – for example; nutrition, planning, consultancy and personal development.
- Report Review and Recommendation – For clients like CEOs and MDs whose time is very precious I help review reports, board papers and articles and provide a summary or possible actions for team members, this saves them time and their team feel more valued as their work has been reviewed in detail.
